Material Description
L-ROL.3 is a Cr-Mn-Si structural steel supplied in the annealed condition and is generally well machinable. Despite its strength being comparable to softer tool steels, its relatively low alloy content and good thermal conductivity make its machining behavior closer to medium-carbon steels such as C45. Standard universal geometries work well, while sharp geometries normally used for stainless steels can also be advantageous, especially where low cutting forces are required. No special tooling or geometries for hardened steels are normally necessary in this condition.
