Material Description
Armox 500T is a quenched and tempered, high-strength martensitic armor steel with a typical hardness of approximately 500 HBW (around 50 HRC), primarily used for ballistic protection in armored vehicles and protective structures. Conventional universal cutting tools designed to handle the first range of hardened steels, such as 1.2343 at 52 HRC, can still be used effectively. However, for improved tool life and machining reliability, dedicated cutting tools and geometries for hardened steels are generally recommended.
