Material Description
EN 1.4980 / AISI 660 (A286) is an austenitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel alloy with low thermal conductivity and high heat resistance. The solution-annealed condition (+AT) offers better machinability, while the +AT+P and +C+P conditions have significantly higher strength. For these harder conditions, cutting tools suitable for high-strength or hardened steels up to 52 HRC are recommended, preferably with sharp stainless steel geometries. This combination provides sufficient wear and heat resistance while minimizing work hardening and excessive cutting forces.
