Material Description
1.2344 / H13 is normally supplied soft annealed (+A), typically around 220–230 HB and approximately 780 MPa. In this condition it machines well with general-purpose tools and geometries; sharper cutting edges can also be used successfully, while tools intended for hardened steels are normally unnecessary. Compared with 1.2343, its higher vanadium content gives slightly higher wear resistance, so stable and wear-resistant cutting edges can be advantageous. The material is normally hardened after machining and can reach approximately 50–54 HRC, where tools and geometries intended for hardened steels should be used.
